BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Selects Teradata

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Nov. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the analytic data solutions company, announced today that BlueCross^® BlueShield^® of Tennessee (BCBST), a leader in delivering innovative health care products, services and information to more than 3 million members, has selected Teradata for its Clinical Data Warehouse (CDW) analytic platform.  BCBST has deployed the new Data Warehouse Appliance along with the Teradata Health Care Logical Data Model.

Coussoule said the new system will help BCBST analyze multiple terabytes of detailed data linked to millions of health insurance claims, patient experiences, doctors, hospitals, treatments, procedures and enrollment groups to answer complex questions and gain valuable insight into trends, costs and quality of care. "A key consideration in our selection process was Teradata's ability to fully comply with BCBST's stringent security policy that requires all BCBST data at rest be fully encrypted," Coussoule added. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee recently completed a $6 million effort to encrypt all at-rest data throughout its enterprise, giving members peace of mind that their personal information is secure.
