BlueMountain Capital Management Appoints Nicholas Pappas CEO of European Operations

NEW YORK, April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- BlueMountain Capital Management, LLC ("BlueMountain"), a private investment firm with over $20 billion in assets under management, today announced it has appointed Nicholas Pappas CEO of its European operations, based in London, United Kingdom. The current CEO, David Rubenstein, will return to the firm's flagship office in New York, where he will serve as a managing partner and General Counsel.

Mr. Pappas is the former head of EMEA leveraged finance trading and research at Goldman Sachs, where he oversaw the growth of a public and private trading team focused on EMEA distressed loans and claims, as well as high-yield bonds, and CDS.

From 2009-2012, Mr. Pappas served as the co-head of U.S. credit trading at Deutsche Bank, where he began in 2007 as a European iTraxx index trader and head of European high-grade corporate trading. He previously held trading positions at Goldman Sachs (2004-2007) and Bear Stearns (1996-2004). Mr. Pappas received a B.S. in biochemistry from Bucknell University in 1996.

Mr. Rubenstein was appointed CEO of BlueMountain's European operations in the fall of 2011. Under his direction, the London office has grown from 18 to 45 people.  He presently sits as a member of the ISDA Credit Derivatives Determinations Committee, where BlueMountain holds one of the five buy-side seats. He is also a member of the Invest in Futures Committee of The Prince's Trust in London.
