Board-Certified Dermatologist Launches LUMA Skincare, the Line She Built for Her Own Patients

Tampa Bay dermatologist Dr. Nupur Patel takes her patient-inspired products nationwide, with virtual consults now open

Alongside the launch, Dr. Patel is opening virtual consultations, extending her care beyond the greater Tampa Bay area.

"Every day I'd finish a consult, send a patient home, and know that the 23 hours they're not in my chair matter just as much as the hour they are," said Dr. Patel. Built from the exam room
Every LUMA product began with a pattern Dr. Patel saw in her patients: the same concerns, the same questions, and the same frustration with what was on the shelf or even at the pharmacy. She developed the line to answer those needs, with formulas designed for the full range of skin tones, including skin of color, and for Florida's climate: humidity, year-round UV exposure, and how skin looks after years of sun.

Luma Dermatology is wholly physician-owned with no private equity investors, an increasingly uncommon structure in dermatology. The practice has been treating Pinellas County families since 2021.

• Luma Calming Cleanser. A creamy cleanser with colloidal sulfur and salicylic acid ester for reactive, combination, or oily skin. Created after years of recommending sulfur cleansers that her patients struggled to find, or that insurance wouldn't cover.
