Bobby Flay's Bobby's Burger Palace to Open at "The Varsity" in College Park, Md.
COLLEGE PARK, Md., May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The new luxury student housing complex, The Varsity, announced today that celebrity chef Bobby Flay will open a location of his fast causal burger concept restaurant, Bobby's Burger Palace in the street level of the complex.
Bobby's Burger Palace showcases ten signature burgers inspired by Chef Bobby Flay's extensive travels throughout America and love of the grill.
The restaurant will occupy 3,500 square feet and is slated to open on September 1, 2011.
"I'm thrilled to be opening Bobby's Burger Palace at The Varsity," says Bobby Flay. "With the recent opening of BBP in Philadelphia, we are looking forward to continuing our expansion in the MidAtlantic region, especially in the heart of the thriving college community at the University of Maryland."
Bobby's Burger Palace will join other retail and restaurants in the complex that have already been announced including Royal Farms and Looney's Pub.
"We are really excited to bring Bobby's Burger Palace to the College Park community," said Scott Shinskie, partner in Potomac Holdings Development. "This is one more thing that makes living at The Varsity a unique experience."
The 901-bed Varsity is located adjacent to the University of Maryland campus on Baltimore Avenue. The complex will offer 20,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level, covered parking for retail customers and residents, and a fitness center, business center and game room for students. The Varsity will open in August of 2011.
The project, developed by Potomac Holdings Development and Campus Suites, is one of the largest new student housing projects in the country and will bring upscale, luxury housing to the College Park market, which currently is experiencing a student housing shortage.
The project was financed in conjunction with Bank of America, US Bank, and the University of Maryland Foundation.
