Again this year, the exhibition will be staged as a collaboration between Sportmax and BODUM® to express the strong synergy between fashion and the world of industrial design. Along with the 2010 introduction of the e-BODUM® collection, BODUM® has decided to launch the ETTORE water kettle, with an exclusive preview at Milan's Sportmax store during the Salone del Mobile.
As Mr. Bodum says, "There is even a novelty, if we can call it that: it's a kettle that Ettore Sottsass Associati designed for us in 1988 that we've never come around to releasing. Sometimes good things take time – and even all these years later, the kettle certainly still honours Mr. Sottsass, the Memphis design group, and their vision."
Ettore Sottsass played not only with materials and shapes, but also with colours – in particular, pastels. Sottsass envisioned his kettle launched in this tradition. To honour his love for pastels, the kettle comes in four different colors: baby blue, lemon, light green and white. The ETTORE kettle is well-integrated into the BODUM® 2010 collection, which is splashed with fresh colours to add new positive energy and to turn our kitchens into warm, playful living rooms. Along with the ETTORE water kettle, BODUM® will present a full range of colourful PAVINA glasses that allow you to colour-code your drinking.
The ETTORE kettle delivers boiling water with the lowest energy consumption possible. Even BODUM®'s iconic French coffee press, which provides the green way to an excellent cup of coffee, needs boiling water. The French coffee press still remains BODUM®'s core product and the soul of its business. But there is no coffee without hot water!
The electric water kettle plays an important role in our lives, especially when functionality and design elevate the object to a level of excellence, like the sober design of the ETTORE kettle does. The ETTORE water kettle, together with the entire BODUM® 2010 collection, proves that BODUM® produces beautifully simple and affordable products for everyday life, products that speak a global language.
"We like it simple, and we like it green at BODUM. And we like saving you money... a lot of money, actually," says Mr. Bodum.
Welcome to the 'Keep the Pot Boiling' exhibition, in honour of Ettore Sottsass!
