BOSS Controls Deploys Phase One Of Its Energy Efficiency Smart Plug Solution With The City Of Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH, June 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BOSS Controls LLC, a leading Internet of Things (IoT) energy management and controls company, announced today the placement of a purchase order from the City of Pittsburgh for its Energy Efficiency Smart Plug Solution.
The City of Pittsburgh first implemented BOSS's energy-savings devices as part of the 2015 Global City Team Challenge launched by The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and US Ignite. BOSS Controls installed smart plugs on various devices, including window air conditioning units, vending machines, and water coolers, in the City of Pittsburgh buildings. When not in use, the devices turn off resulting in energy and cost savings.
Up to one-third of energy lost in a commercial building occurs at the plug level. By installing the BOSS system, building owners, property managers, sustainability managers and others can take full control of plug load energy waste and rapidly generate measurable ROI for every device that is plugged into the wall.

In addition to providing the first phase of smart plugs to the City, BOSS will provide the City's energy and sustainability managers with the tools and support they need to effectively and efficiently manage all of its building plug loads. The purchase order was placed through WESCO Distribution, a leading global electrical and MRO distributor, which holds a contract with COSTARS, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's cooperative purchasing program.
