Vibrant artwork to adorn Gondola Plaza and 2026/27 season lift tickets and season passes
ASPEN, Colo., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on more than two decades of elevating lift tickets to fine art, Aspen One is proud to announce that celebrated Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes has contributed artwork for the 2026/27 winter season as a part of Aspen One's Art in Unexpected Places (ArtUP) program. Milhazes' artwork will be featured in two distinct places: At the Silver Queen Gondola station – a monumental transformation that will bathe the Aspen Mountain base area in her signature psychedelic color and light; and on Aspen Snowmass lift tickets for the 2026/27 winter season. Five works from her distinctive body of screenprints and paintings - Flip Flop (2010), Rosa Branca no Centro (1997), A Prata e o Ouro (1997/98), Bossinha (2011), and Belezinha (2011) — will reimagine lift ticket and season pass cards into collectible art.
"Beatriz Milhazes's work is a perfect expression of what ArtUP stands for and supports, anchored in the Aspen Idea," said Dave Tanner, President and CEO of Aspen One. "Her use of vibrant colors, rhythms, and energy speaks a universal language that resonates with guests from around the world."
At Aspen Mountain's base, guests will encounter Milhazes' art through a season-long installation that reimagines the facades of the Silver Queen Gondola station. Transparent and translucent colored vinyl, custom-fit to the building's glass and window geometry, will create a collage that produces a stained glass-like effect. For guests ascending and descending the Silver Queen Gondola throughout the season, the artwork will become an integral part of their mountain experience – an immersive encounter with contemporary art at the gateway to the mountain.
"Art is about life and nature," said Milhazes. "The world needs poetry and beauty more than ever – not a cosmetic beauty, but one that creates a spiritual connection. My hope is that my art allows those who visit Aspen Snowmass to feel something deeper, where art and nature meet as a truly human experience."
Represented by Pace Gallery, Milhazes' lively circles, organic forms, and layered compositions drawn from Brazilian Baroque architecture and nature's cycles – all themes that resonate with mountain culture and the seasonal rhythms of skiing.
"We are thrilled that Beatriz Milhazes, one of the most important contemporary painters working today, will be part of Aspen One's ArtUp program," said Marc Glimcher, President and CEO of Pace Gallery. "Beatriz revolutionized painting in Brazil in the 1990s and introduced a rigorous yet unrepentantly joyful approach that has influenced artists around the world. ArtUp will also let her pursue another passion: bringing painting into the monumental public sphere. Very few painters have successfully translated their practice into large-scale public works, but Beatriz has refined this over more than 20 years of projects, from São Paulo, Vienna, and Paris to Inujima Island, Japan."
Aspen has long been recognized as a global center for arts and culture. The Aspen Idea, which includes the integration of art into everyday life strengthens community and human connection, guides Aspen One's commitment to making contemporary art accessible and universal. Milhazes' contribution is part of Aspen One's larger investment in renewing and strengthening its commitments to the arts.
