Breaker Launches Newsletter MCP + API for AI Workflows and RealClick™ for Verified Metrics
As automated systems increasingly shape both newsletter engagement data and campaign execution, Breaker is addressing two emerging risks: knowing when an interaction is genuinely human and maintaining control over what AI can do inside a marketing workflow.
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Email marketers may be making performance decisions with click data that has little to do with actual reader behavior. Omeda found that 87.3% of all recorded click activity across 1.77 billion emails processed on its platform in the first quarter of 2026 came from nonhuman sources. Even newsletters, which had the lowest bot share among major high-volume email categories, recorded 82.4% of clicks as bot-driven. At the same time, artificial intelligence is moving beyond content generation and gaining access to live marketing workflows, raising questions about how much authority AI should have over campaigns and customer data.
Breaker, a newsletter platform focused on B2B audience growth and engagement, has launched RealClick™ and its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server and application programming interface (API) to address those problems. RealClick™ filters automated click activity from campaign reporting, while the MCP server and API allow compatible AI tools to work with newsletter data and workflows while maintaining human approval. "Automation is only useful if marketers can trust the signal and stay in control of the outcome," said Ben Billups, Founder and CEO of Breaker. "That means knowing when engagement is actually human and making sure AI can assist the work without taking over the final decision."
Automation Is Making Newsletter Signals Harder to Trust
Email security systems routinely inspect links to protect users from phishing and malicious content. Microsoft's Safe Links, for example, scans URLs as part of its email protection process. Those safeguards are necessary, but the automated activity they generate can appear in campaign reporting.
That can distort the metric marketers use to evaluate content, identify engaged prospects, and report results to advertisers or sponsors. A higher click count does not necessarily mean more people interacted with the newsletter.
"Security scanners will click on links several times, and those machine-generated clicks are not real engagement," said Billups. "Separating those automated interactions from reader activity provides a more accurate picture".
Cleaner Signals, Controlled Automation
Billups said RealClick™ and MCP server and API were designed around those two areas where automation can create problems: the data marketers rely on, and the actions software is allowed to take.
RealClick™ already runs automatically across Breaker campaigns, evaluating clicks for signs of automated activity and separating those interactions from the engagement marketers use to assess reader behavior. Campaign reports show total clicks alongside RealClick™ data, giving teams a clear basis for evaluating content, identifying engaged prospects, running A/B testing, and reporting performance.
The MCP server and API extend that control into AI-assisted workflows. Compatible AI tools can draft campaigns, retrieve performance reports, build audience segments, and work with contacts and engagement data without requiring marketers to move information manually between systems.
Billups explained that the tools have guardrails to keep human autonomy throughout the whole process. AI models and API keys cannot send campaigns or delete contacts. Campaign drafts return to Breaker's editor for review and final approval before anything reaches audiences. "You should be able to ask what worked, pull the relevant data, and prepare the next campaign," Billups said. "That is where AI becomes genuinely useful in the newsletter workflow."
Breaker Pushes Further Into AI-First Email
RealClick™ and the MCP server and API are part of a broader product direction for Breaker as it expands beyond traditional newsletter and email service provider and builds more AI directly into the platform. "Our development team is shipping quickly, testing new capabilities with customers and getting them into the product once we know they work," Billups said. "That gives us room to keep expanding what an email platform can actually do."
