The Brentwood Kids Music Club yearly music program centers around helping shoeless worldwide
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing and Soles4Souls announces the release of The Christmas Shoe Tree, created by Jeff Slaughter, as the children's Christmas musical program. The storyline and songs were written specifically with Soles4Souls, and the estimated 300 million children without shoes, in mind. Brentwood-Benson has set a goal of collecting 500,000 shoes through the program.
The idea was the brainchild of Dale Matthews, the President of Brentwood-Benson, who learned of the charity a few years ago at a conference in Kansas City. He worked with his team on the idea of incorporating a charity into the actual content of their Christmas program, and the rest "is history."
"I am excited to announce the release of our new Christmas Musical for Kids, The Christmas Shoe Tree, created by Jeff Slaughter, in conjunction with Soles4Souls," said Matthews. "It is an exciting time, but also one of great anticipation and responsibility, as we hope to collect 500,000 shoes working together with churches and kid's choirs," he added.
With the audacious goal of half a million shoes, the program encourages churches and kid's choirs to make a real-life impact by collecting shoes in and around their communities leading up to the performance of their program.
"It is never too early in the year, or in life, to start giving back," said Kevin Goughary, CEO of Soles4Souls. "I can't think of a better way to decorate your Christmas tree than with shoes that will ultimately go to someone in need. We are so pleased to be integrated into this amazing Christmas program and that kids are already choosing to take that program outside of the walls of their churches and schools."
