Briar Chapel Celebrates Active Lifestyle with Two Trail Events

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., May 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Briar Chapel, a new home community in Chapel Hill, NC, is in the midst of hosting a series of outdoor activities highlighting the community's healthy, active lifestyle. The events make use of Briar Chapel's extensive network of expertly designed trails, which are open to the public.

Last week Briar Chapel held "Bike and Learn," a mountain bike clinic that featured professional biker Sonya Looney. Co-sponsored by Performance Bike, the event included an outdoor ride followed by a presentation and snacks in the Briar Club, and saw record attendance from biking enthusiasts across the Triangle.

Following this successful event, on June 1 the community will celebrate National Trail Day with additional outdoor events on-site. A bird-watching expedition with the owner of the Wild Bird Center of Chapel Hill kicks the day off at 9 a.m., followed at 10 a.m. by a trail walk guided by an Educational Ranger from Jordan Lake Educational State Forest. Those seeking a more adventurous pursuit can join a 10 a.m. trail ride with Triangle Off-Road Cyclists (TORC), who designed Briar Chapel's network of trails. The day's activities will conclude with a birdhouse craft activity at the Briar Club from 10-11:30 a.m.
