MILWAUKEE, Aug. 8, 2012Briggs & Stratton Corporation (NYSE:BGG):
At its regular quarterly meeting held today, the Board of Directors of Briggs & Stratton Corporation declared a quarterly dividend of twelve cents($0.12) per share on the common stock of the Corporation. This represents an increase of approximately 9% from the prior quarterly dividend of $.11 per share and reflects the Company's financial position.
"The increase in the dividend reflects improved financial performance of the Company over the past few years in a difficult economic environment and the strength of the Company's balance sheet," commented Todd J. Teske, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are confident in our ability to generate sufficient cash flows to support future growth initiatives, including potential acquisitions, in addition to supporting the increased dividend."
The dividend is payable October 1, 2012 to shareholders of record at the close of business August 20, 2012.
