Arizona's bioscience community honors the Mesa manufacturer's momentum over the past 18 months, from a first-of-its-kind FDA designation to American-made production of hospital medicines in chronic shortage
MESA, Ariz., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bright Path, a U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturer, has been named a 2026 AZBio Fast Lane Award honoree by the Arizona Bioindustry Association (AZBio). The award recognizes Arizona bioscience companies that have reached significant milestones and demonstrated exceptional momentum over the past 18 months. Honorees are nominated by members of Arizona's bioscience community and selected by independent judges. Bright Path will be honored today at the 23rd Annual AZBio Awards at the Phoenix Convention Center, a signature event of Arizona Bioscience Week.
"Arizona is where we proved that essential medicines can be made in America again," said Tony Quinones, Founder and CEO of Bright Path. "Our team in Mesa takes base chemicals and turns them into finished medicine in hours, start to finish in the United States, at prices that compete with China and India. This award belongs to them, and it tells every hospital, distributor and policymaker watching that the road back to American-made medicine runs through Arizona."
Over the past 18 months, Bright Path has moved from federal research programs to committed commercial production. In August, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted the company an Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) designation, the first for a small-molecule drug manufacturing technology. The designation covers Bright Path's end-to-end U.S. production of carboplatin, a commonly used chemotherapy drug, and lidocaine, a local anesthetic widely used in hospitals and emergency care. Both medicines are on the FDA drug shortage list. During the same period, the company met every contract milestone across three successive awards under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) EQUIP-A-Pharma program. The entirety of its initial production is already committed under contract to healthcare customers through a distribution network reaching 48 states.
At the center of the platform is the company's patented Spinning Tube-in-Tube (STT®) reactor system, designed and built in-house in Mesa. Conventional plants produce medicine in large batches that stop and start over days and weeks. Bright Path instead runs the chemistry as one continuous flow, with software managing quality from raw materials through sterile filling, which is how finished medicine comes off the line in hours, with no chemical ingredients sourced from overseas.
Bright Path's Mesa facility anchors the company's plan to expand into a national network of regional manufacturing hubs serving hospitals, distributors and government customers.
