California Tailor's eagerly anticipated first product - a classic shirt with a perfect fit- celebrates tomboy elegance: feminine, sexy and relaxed, with the attention to detail expected of quality tailoring.
This is the first solo venture by Gill McLean, a Briton living in Los Angeles, and formerly senior design director at a leading fashion brand. Gill explains her inspiration for launching California Tailor:
"I started California Tailor to design the perfect button-down woven shirt - an essential in every woman's wardrobe since Audrey Hepburn showed us how to wear it. I've spent the past year creating and perfecting Shirt No.1, adding some California sunshine to traditional London tailoring to create a laid back woven shirt of outstanding quality and fit."
The shirts are made with the highest quality fabric sourced from around the world, including classic heritage prints from Liberty Art Fabrics, London. The first collection is highly limited in a commitment to quality: each shirt is checked by Gill and sent with a personal note. The designs - with names inspired by the California coast - are effortless classics, borrowed from the boys yet thoroughly feminine.
California Tailor's very limited edition first run of Shirt no.1 is designed and crafted entirely in Los Angeles and will be available to order exclusively online at www.californiatailor.com at the end of January 2014.
