Briya Appoints CCO Jason Hein to Bring AI-Native Evidence Generation to Global Research Organizations and Life Sciences
Jason Hein joins as Chief Commercial Officer to scale AIRE, the scientific AI platform, as demand for AI-native evidence generation accelerates
NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Briya, developer of AIRE, the scientific AI platform turning fragmented healthcare data into defensible evidence, today announced the appointment of Jason Hein as Chief Commercial Officer. The hire marks the beginning of a deliberate scale-up phase for the company, as Briya moves from proving AIRE's value with early research partners to expanding across the organizations that generate real-world evidence (RWE) for life sciences worldwide.
Briya enters this phase as the RWE market confronts a widening analysis gap. Regulators and payers now demand continuous real-world proof, creating a growing divide between required evidence and the specialist scientific capacity available to generate it. Drugmakers must prove a product's real-world value repeatedly to win approval, expand labels, secure reimbursement, and satisfy post-market commitments, and must do so faster than ever. Biopharma now spends more than $25 billion a year generating that evidence, with more than two-thirds of it spent on expert analysis rather than on software or data. Because these complex studies depend on a limited pool of specialist scientists, team capacity cannot keep pace with demand.
"Now more than ever, the constraint in evidence generation isn't a lack of scientific expertise. It's how much operational complexity we put around that expertise," said David Lazerson, CEO and Co-founder of Briya. "AIRE was built to change that and give researchers more room for science. We are pleased to welcome Jason, who deeply understands how research organizations scope, staff and deliver studies, and where the hours disappear. That combination of scientific workflow understanding and commercial experience will serve us and our customers as we continue to scale."
AIRE handles much of the operational complexity between fragmented healthcare data and defensible evidence, managing everything from data preparation and harmonization through cohort building, analysis, validation and reporting, while researchers retain full control of the scientific methodology and interpretation. The result is increased research throughput with the expertise teams already have, giving scientists more room for science and greater capacity.
No one feels that gain more acutely than the organizations whose business is research throughput. For CROs, HEOR consultancies and research institutes, the economics have long been set by the size and efficiency of their teams, which is why they are moving fastest from labor-based delivery to tech-enabled delivery, where capacity is determined by the strength of a team's tools. Briya is focused on these organizations first. They run the highest volume of studies, feel the capacity constraint most directly, and compete on turnaround and scientific depth in every proposal. Sponsors generating evidence in-house face the same constraint and adopt the same logic.
In this role, Hein will lead Briya's global commercial strategy, overseeing everything from market positioning and growth through customer delivery and long-term client success. He joins from RTI International, where he served as Director of Corporate Development, leading equity investments and strategic partnerships across life sciences, pharma services, health data, and AI businesses, including RTI's collaboration with Navidence. He previously held commercial, corporate development and portfolio strategy roles at Codexis, where he helped commercialize the ECO Synthesis® platform for nucleic acid therapeutics, and at LGC Biosearch Technologies. He holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and an MS in Molecular Biology from St. Cloud State University.
"Research teams are being asked to deliver more ambitious studies on shorter timelines and tighter budgets," said Hein. "Regulators and payers want real patient evidence to demonstrate value at more points in a product's life. The pressure these structural market changes create can't be effectively solved by adding people to the problem. Technology that lets expert scientists take on more without sacrificing scientific rigor and trust must be part of the solution. That's what Briya AIRE is built for, and the market is ready for it."
Briya AIRE is an AI-native research environment for clinical and real-world evidence generation. Unlike general-purpose AI research assistants, AIRE operates directly on patient-level data and carries a study from question to defensible result: cohort definition, data preparation and harmonization, analysis and documentation, with an auditable record of how each result was produced. AIRE draws rich clinical detail from both structured data and unstructured clinical notes, capturing evidence that structured fields alone miss. It is also built to work with any data source. Teams can use Briya's global network of 120 million patient records across four continents, their own internal data, public datasets, or third-party data they already license. Whatever the source, the division of labor stays the same: researchers keep full control of every scientific and methodological decision, and AIRE handles the operational work around it. For organizations delivering research to life sciences clients, that means more capacity per team, the ability to take on more complex projects, and a stronger offering in every proposal.
