SAN FRANCISCO, May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Brown & Toland Physicians placed in the top tier of California physician groups for 2011, earning "Elite" status for the fifth year in a row as rated by the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG).
Brown & Toland earned four out of four stars on the 2011 CAPG Standards of Excellence Survey, according to results released in May. The recognition honors Brown & Toland for its stellar performance in each of the four categories evaluated: care management, patient centered care, health information technology, and accountability and transparency.
"We are extremely proud to earn this recognition once again," said Richard Fish, CEO of Brown & Toland. "We owe a great thanks to our team of physicians and employees who work tirelessly to improve patient satisfaction, provide the best clinical care and integrate new technology. It's our excellence in these areas that have made us the leading physician group in San Francisco and is paving the way toward our success in the arena of accountable care."
This year, 76 medical groups and independent practice associations representing 11 million patients – roughly 90 percent of the HMO patient market – participated in the survey. These medical groups also care for roughly three million patients who are on PPO plans, Medicare and other types of health plans.
"I congratulate Brown & Toland Physicians and CEO Richard Fish for their continuing excellence," said Donald Crane, president and CEO of CAPG. "Their results on the Standards of Excellence survey demonstrate a true dedication to high quality, accountable patient care."
