St. Maarten Telecom Provider turns to BTI Systems for 3G Mobile Service Expansion and Seamless Integration for Ethernet Business Services
OTTAWA, Ontario, Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BTI Systems, the company that redefines metro service delivery, today announced that the TelEm Group, the government-owned incumbent telecom provider on the Dutch Caribbean Island of St. Maarten, has selected a packet optical networking solution from BTI Systems to serve as the scalable and reliable network backbone for its 3G mobile service expansion and NGN all IP network. To deliver broadband-like speeds for Internet access, application downloads and media streaming to its subscribers, TelEm Group selected the BTI Systems' network solution for wireless backhaul which seamlessly integrates Carrier Ethernet and WDM to address scalability, capacity and growing bandwidth requirements of wireless backhaul.

The TelEm Group provides fixed, wireless and data services for business and residential customers throughout the island. To enable the delivery of new 3G services, BTI Systems combines the operationally efficient BTI 7000 Series to provide the core of the network, alongside the BTI 700 Series Ethernet Access Devices that work as the network on-ramps at 38 access points and 22 cell towers for an end-to-end packet optical solution.
