Buddy Valastro Honored As Man Of The Year For Charitable Work
FORT LEE, N.J., Jan. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Saint Rocco Italian American Society of Fort Lee, NJ announced today that Buddy Valastro will be this year's "Man of the Year" at their annual dinner dance on March 1st, 2015 at The Westmount Country Club at 5:00 pm.
Society president, Phil Arfuso said, "When our committee had to pick this year's man of the year, we did a lot of research into who we wanted to honor. After seeing all the charitable work Buddy does it was a no brainer!"
The Saint Rocco Society formed in 1927 in Fort Lee by a group of Italian immigrants from a small town located along the Mediterranean Sea in Calabria. When they immigrated to America, they brought along their devotion of Saint Rocco, with a statue of their patron Saint. As years went by the Society members grew in numbers. They organize annual festivals in honor of Saint Rocco to raise money for people in need, and other organizations such as The American Cancer Society, Saint Jude's Children Hospital, and Saint Joseph's School for the Blind to name a few.
Every year The Saint Rocco Society recognizes Italian Americans who help make meaningful differences in the local and/or world community. Buddy Valastro has done extremely great work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he has worked with the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, as well as starting up a foundation with his family in honor of his mother to help fight ALS. Proceeds from the dinner will be donated "The Momma Mary Foundation".
