Buffalo Bills Rely on ShoreTel Communications System On and Off the Field

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ShoreTel® (NASDAQ: SHOR), the leading provider of brilliantly simple phone systems and unified communications (UC) solutions, today announced the NFL team Buffalo Bills has selected and installed a ShoreTel unified communications system to improve staff productivity and fan satisfaction. The system is installed on 400 phones at the Ralph Wilson Stadium and the ADPRO Sports Training Center. Among ShoreTel's software offerings, the Buffalo Bills are using ShoreTel Enterprise Contact Center for their call centers and ShoreTel Mobility, which extends the phone system to employees' smartphones and tablets.

During the offseason, the Bills' stadium underwent a major remodel, which enabled the organization to re-evaluate its communications provider. After considering other VoIP solutions with the guidance of ShoreTel channel partner PremCom, the Buffalo Bills selected ShoreTel.

"The ease of use and installation of the ShoreTel system was a huge factor in our decision," said Dan Evans, vice president of information technology at the Buffalo Bills. "The system's capability to grow with us as we expand was also an important consideration. From the cut-over standpoint, the installation process was seamless."

Among the early feedback from employees is that they enjoy being able to customize their ShoreTel phone, speed dials and more without IT support. The team's use of ShoreTel Enterprise Contact Center improved productivity and efficiency in its ticket office. The Bills also rely on ShoreTel technology for on-the-field communication on game days, since the phones on the field communications cart are part of the ShoreTel system. Phones can also be quickly provisioned to visiting team staff and TV crews at the location of their choice.

Meanwhile, the ShoreTel system has enabled the team's IT staff to reduce costs in several key areas. "Our monthly maintenance costs have decreased," Evans said. "And our equipment and environmental footprints have been greatly reduced. Instead of a separate server room, our ShoreTel gear fits in half a rack, and our power consumption is also much lower as a result."
