Bureau Veritas Launches New Service For Cosmetics Industry

HOUSTON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Bureau Veritas Certification has launched a new certification service in North America: ISO 22716. This standard is based on the New European Regulation for Cosmetics requiring all cosmetics sold in the European Market to be produced according to Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). GMPs are a set of advice, operational rules, and organizational guidelines, focused on human, technical, and administrative factors affecting product quality. The objective of the GMP is to define activities which lead to the final product and how they correspond to expected specifications and product safety.

ISO 22716 is the standard that describes the Cosmetics GMP, and was written in collaboration with cosmetics industry professionals to promote best-in-class methods. The scope of ISO 22716 is not limited to manufacturing, but also applies to control, storage, and expedition of the product. Every cosmetic product circulating in the European Market must meet these standards. This applies to goods manufactured in Europe and well as goods that are imported.

Large players in the cosmetics industry are moving quickly toward this certification. One example is Group Guinot, founded in 1930, which operates more than 10,000 beauty salons in more than 65 countries.
