Burger King McLamore(SM) Foundation Turns Dollars Into Scholars

MIAMI, May 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The BURGER KING McLAMORE^SM Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Burger King Corp., today announced the kick-off of the 2015-2016 fundraising season for its BURGER KING^SM Scholars program. This year, the annual Spring Fundraiser offers guests of participating BURGER KING^® restaurants a deal that is doubly delicious, along with the opportunity to help a number of deserving high school seniors get a leg up on a college education. Created in the memory of BURGER KING^® co-founder James W. McLamore, the BURGER KING McLAMORE^SM Foundation, and its flagship BURGER KING^SM Scholars program, celebrate the commitment to philanthropy and education that made him a pillar of community service throughout his lifetime.

Starting May 19, and continuing through June 16, 2015, for every $1 donation made, BURGER KING^® restaurant guests will receive two (2) coupons each: the first can be redeemed for one (1) free value-sized French fry or onion ring, and the second for two (2) OTIS SPUNKMEYER^® cookies. In addition to the coupons, guests will be given a paper icon to write their name on, that will be posted in their home town BK^® restaurant, noting their choice to "help make a scholar." This offer is available in participating BK^® restaurants in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.All funds raised will be awarded in 2016 to local students through the Foundation's BURGER KING^SM Scholars program.

Since its inception, the BURGER KING^SM Scholars program has awarded more than 24,000 outstanding students with more than $25.3 million in financial assistance to be used toward a college degree. Applications for scholarships are available to high school seniors, BURGER KING^® employees, their spouses or domestic partners and children across North America through the BURGER KING^SM Scholars program.
