Award-winning organization recognized in the inaugural year of the national program
SANTA CLARITA, Calif., Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bioness Medical, Inc. is proud to recognize, Burke Rehabilitation®, a leading provider of advanced physical and medical rehabilitation and member of the Montefiore Health System, as a 2026 Bioness Clinic of Excellence. This designation recognizes the organization's leadership in adopting innovative rehabilitation technology, advancing clinician education, and delivering patient-centered care designed to improve functional outcomes and greater independence.
The inaugural 2026 program honors 10 rehabilitation clinics nationwide, with Burke as the program's only New York recipient.
At Burke, innovation is grounded in a clear purpose: to bring together the expertise of a multidisciplinary care team, emerging technology, and individualized treatment planning to help patients regain mobility, function, and confidence. Across its inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs, Burke integrates Bioness' cutting-edge technology for patients with neurological and orthopedic conditions, including stroke, spinal cord injury, balance deficits, and concussion. The hospital uses Vector, H200 Wireless™, L300 Go® Plus, BITS®, and BITS Balance®, to support at least 30 patients per day as they work to improve strength, mobility, balance, and upper-extremity function.
These tools enable therapists to deliver challenging, purposeful, and progressive therapy experiences while using objective feedback to inform treatment. From body-weight-supported gait and mobility training to interactive visual, cognitive, and balance activities, the technology helps Burke clinicians create targeted interventions that evolve with a patient's abilities and goals.
The recognition reflects the organization's sustained commitment to clinician education and implementation through regular refresher trainings and a train-the-trainer program that equips departmental "super users" to promote consistent, effective use of the technology. In addition, the culture of innovation extends to clinical research and pilot initiatives at Burke, including its participation in a BITS Functional Reality pilot study.
Burke also participated in a clinical study of Portable Neuromodulation Stimulation (PoNS Therapy®), reinforcing its commitment to advancing neurorehabilitation research. PoNS® is commercially available in the U.S. for gait deficits associated with chronic stroke and multiple sclerosis, when used with supervised therapeutic exercise in adults 22 and older.
"Burke has been an exceptional partner from day one," said Alyssa Williamson, DPT, Area Sales Manager at Bioness Medical. "Their dedication to thoughtfully integrating technology into patient care, combined with their commitment to innovation and meaningful outcomes, is what makes Burke a true Clinic of Excellence."
"This 2026 Bioness Clinic of Excellence recognition is a testament to the dedication of our entire Burke team and our shared commitment to delivering exceptional, patient-centered rehabilitation care," said Janet Herbold, PT, MPH, PhD, Senior Vice President of Post Acute Operations at Burke Rehabilitation. "By combining the expertise of our clinicians and staff with innovative technology, we help patients build strength, regain function, and move forward with greater independence and confidence throughout their recovery."
