PITTSBURGH, July 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson LLP, a full-service law firm devoted primarily to the oil and gas industry, has completed a move into new offices in Pittsburgh, adding 10,000 square feet to support recent growth in the Appalachian Basin. The firm now occupies more than 25,000 square feet on the second floor of Southpointe Town Center at 1900 Main Street.
Burleson opened its Pittsburgh location in late 2009 with roughly 1,500 square feet and four attorneys serving companies with interests in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays. In less than five years, it has grown to 40 attorneys, expanding its original office space three times before relocating to the newly built Southpointe Town Center.
Kevin Colosimo, Managing Partner in Pittsburgh, said the growth – and subsequent new office space – is a direct result of Burleson's commitment to strengthening practice areas critical to client operations.
"We understand the legal issues influencing the success of the energy industry in the Appalachian Basin, and have strategically added attorneys who can handle the scope and complexity of the work," said Colosimo. "We've grown key areas – from litigation to land use to acquisitions and divestitures and other transactional work – and we now have upwards of two dozen oil and gas attorneys licensed to practice in Ohio and a dozen licensed in West Virginia."
"This growth – combined with our comprehensive capabilities for clients in Pennsylvania and New York – has allowed us to essentially become the headquarters for energy law in the Appalachian Basin. We're committed to the region and the vast potential the Marcellus and Utica shale plays offer the industry, and this new office reflects that."
Burleson has been recognized by the Pittsburgh Business Times as one of the largest law firms and one of the largest energy practices in Pittsburgh. The Houston-based firm has also earned recognition on a national scale for its considerable growth both in and out of the Appalachian Basin, garnering a range of media attention from a number of publications, including the National Law Journal.
Since the firm opened in 2005, Burleson has grown from two attorneys to more than 130 lawyers who practice from five offices in three states – Texas, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. The full-service firm delivers a comprehensive range of services to every sector of the energy industry in in every major North American producing region.
