Burleson LLP Supports Swansea University's Texas Research Showcase

HOUSTON, Oct. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson LLP, a full-service law firm devoted primarily to the oil and gas industry, announced its support of Swansea University's Texas Research Showcase, which will be held from Oct. 26 through Oct. 31 with events in Houston, College Station, and Austin. 

The series underscores the efforts of the Wales-based university to develop partnerships with several Texas academic institutions to add value to students, researchers, and the greater global community.  It will feature more than 20 top researchers from Swansea University, many of whom have been collaborating in research with faculty at universities in Texas, and will address key findings impacting a number of worldwide issues in areas such as energy, technology, and healthcare.

In conjunction with the sponsorship, Burleson will host a dinner on Oct. 27 to bring executives from international oil and gas companies together with thought leaders from various research institutions to address the global shortage of skilled workers in the energy sector.

Swansea University's relationship with Texas began in 2006, when it was invited to become a member of the Texas-UK collaborative to foster research among major research-driven universities in biomedicine, nanotechnology, and informatics.  Since that time, Swansea University has established several strategic relationships with leading institutional partners in Texas, expanding its collaborative research to involve new activities and subject matters, including the development of safe technologies to extract energy. 

Its Energy Safety Research Institute is a constituent member of the Global Energy Safety Institute, a sister organization of the Energy and Environmental Systems Institute at Rice University in Houston and an associate of the National Corrosion Research Center at Texas A&M University.
