In this 4-hour Advanced Workshop, Gregory will provide an in-depth examination of what appraisers should know when performing a valuation for estate and gift tax purposes in light of IRS review. He will cover how the IRS views S-corp and FLP valuations, discounts for lack of marketability and control, how appraisals work through the IRS structure, and much more.
"This event couldn't be better timed. Estate and gift valuations are a mainstay of the business appraisal profession, and the need for guidance on this issue has been increasing every day that uncertainty about the rules and regulations of estate taxes continue," said Blake Lyman, Professional Program Manager for BVR. "Michael Gregory is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced professionals in this field. This workshop will deliver new and invaluable insights to a community looking for guidance."
Workshop highlights include:
- How the structure and organization of the IRS can affect the review of your work
- How sub chapter S rules affect valuations for estate and gift purposes
- How to treat discounts for lack of marketability and control when preparing for the IRS
- What views the IRS holds on contentious appraisal methods and thinking, and how best to prepare for comments and review in these areas
- How to prepare and defend a sound estate & gift valuation for IRS consumption and review
Registration for the Workshop is currently open with discounted pricing for multi-office listeners. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and get full access to the expert's presentation materials, along with all estate and gift materials from BVR's extensive library.
