ATLANTA, April 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- C2 Education (C2), the nation's fastest growing network of subject tutoring, SAT ®, ACT®, PSAT® test prep and education support centers, helps students prepare for the new, harder SAT.
The College Board's announcement of a completely redesigned SAT in early 2014 took many students and parents by surprise. The test was created in the 1920s and the last update was a decade ago. The new SAT will go into effect in the Spring of 2016, impacting students currently in 10th grade or below.
Significant changes include a new scoring system that does not have a penalty for incorrect answers, and is scaled from 400 to 1,600 vs. the current 600 to 2,400. Basic trigonometry and pre-calculus concepts are included in the new math section and a part of the test does not permit a calculator. Reading and writing sections require students to answer context-based questions with more relevant source material; the old test requires sentence completion and older source topics less relevant to today's student learning. The essay section is now optional and asks students to analyze persuasive elements within a passage rather than supply an opinion-based response.
Taking the SAT has often caused anxiety for students; the new test has only heightened that anxiety. Luckily, C2 Education was well ahead of the curve in new SAT prep. The company was the first tutoring center to publish workbooks for the updated test (internally) and C2 staff have undergone rigorous training to get ready for the new test. The company offers a series of free webinars about the test as well as other relevant subjects and has posted multiple videos from the company's leadership regarding the new SAT. Why offer so many resources? "We started C2 because we believe in our students and in their potential for greatness. Acing the SAT is a big step in that direction and we feel obligated to use our knowledge and resources to take students toward their dreams," stated David Kim, CEO and Co-Founder.
