Tech Girls Rock Cultivates Tech-Related Interests and Opportunities

NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As part of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting, CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA) and Boys & Girls Clubs of America announced their commitment to empowering girls to explore a future in technology through Tech Girls Rock. This new initiative is aimed at helping girls to discover and cultivate an interest in technology, and tech-related educational and career opportunities.

As part of the commitment, CA Technologies will make a $1,000,000 contribution to Boys & Girls Clubs of America over two years to deliver inspiring programs to tween and teen girls. Tech Girls Rock will aim to empower and inspire girls to discover an interest in technology, and ultimately, tech-related educational and career opportunities. Boys & Girls Clubs of America serves four million youth through Club membership and community outreach annually, of which 45 percent are female youth. The organization's education strategy is focused on introducing Club members to activities designed to provide fun experiences that are hands-on, interactive and intentionally develop critical thinking or other skills.

In conjunction with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Tech Girls Rock will feature innovative workshops held in Clubs across the country. The workshops will include career exploration panels with technology workers who will share their own stories and experiences. Participants will also engage in discussions on key trends and topics in IT and will participate in technology-focused challenges and projects.

Tech Girls Rock is part of Boys & Girls Clubs of America's strategy aimed at ensuring all members graduate from high school on time, are equipped for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.
