CAIR: Anti-Muslim Hate Group's DC Event to Feature Top Trump Adviser
Muslim civil rights group calls on members of Congress to reject ACT for America's Islamophobic agenda
WASHINGTON, Sept. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, is calling on members of Congress to reject the Islamophobic agenda of the anti-Muslim hate group ACT for America, which will hold a "legislative briefing" on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., during its national conference next week.

Featured speakers at the hate group's annual event include Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn (U.S. Army, Retired), a top adviser to GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. Flynn, who spoke at the Republican national convention and was considered as a Trump vice presidential pick, has claimed that Islam is a "cancer" and not a real religion.

In a letter sent to members of Congress and their staff outlining the hate group's history of anti-Muslim bigotry, CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw wrote in part:
"As a member of the United States Congress, ACT seeks to use your office to provide itself with a legitimizing platform for Islamophobia in our nation's capital and further promote its hateful agenda to discriminate against the American Muslim community.
"Supporting ACT's anti-Muslim policy agenda also threatens the very safety and security of the American Muslim community and those perceived to be Muslim."
ACT for America leader Hanah Kahwagi Tudor, who goes by the pseudonym "Brigitte Gabriel," says an American Muslim "cannot be a loyal citizen" and that Islam is the "real enemy." She once told the Australian Jewish News: "Every practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim." Tudor also claimed that "Islamo-fascism is a politically-correct word. . .it's the vehicle for Islam. . .Islam is the problem."
The New York Times describes her as a "radical Islamophobe" who in the past has made statements like "Arabs have no soul" and "Arabs are barbarians."
When asked whether Americans should "resist Muslims who want to seek political office in this nation," Tudor said, "Absolutely."

According to an expose of the group by the Tennessean newspaper, "ACT members see themselves as warriors in a clash between Western civilization and Islam."
The Southern Poverty law Center (SPLC) has named "Brigitte Gabriel" as a member of the nation's "Anti-Muslim Inner Circle."
