CALCASA Releases Report About Building Linkages Between The Fields Of Domestic Violence And Sexual Assault During No More Week
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 10, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) unveiled a first of its kind report and theory of change to build awareness for the fields of domestic violence and sexual assault. This report entitled "Reciprocal Advancement: Building Linkages Between Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault" contains a historical context of the two fields and strategies to support and advance the issues in unison.
Over the past year, CALCASA led an initiative to examine existing literature, research and practical applications linking the fields of domestic violence and sexual assault. This report highlights a training framework to create new opportunities for investment in policies, fund development, direct services, awareness building, and prevention efforts that raise the profile of both issues.
"Our theory of change acknowledges that the fields of domestic violence and sexual assault are linked-yet-distinct," said Sandra Henriquez, Executive Director of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault. "Reciprocal advancement builds on intentional conversations and collaborations to strengthen the impact of our common goals in the movement to end violence against women."
CALCASA hopes this report will curate a national discourse on the importance to elevating domestic violence and sexual assault, together. An electronic version of the report can be accessed via CALCASA's latest project, "California Says NO MORE", which launched in January, building off of the success of the national NO MORE campaign. www.CAsaysNOMORE.com.
CALCASA is the only statewide organization in California whose sole purpose is to promote public policy, advocacy, training and technical assistance on the issue of sexual assault.
