California American Water to Host Vendor Diversity Business Expo

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- California American Water will host a Vendor Diversity Business Expo, Tuesday, August 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Seaside Community Center at Soper Field.

The event will support California American Water's supplier diversity program, which seeks to better afford smaller organizations, and those run by women and minorities, the opportunity to supply the company with essential products and services. California American Water strives to meet a supplier diversity goal of 15 percent minority owned, 5 percent woman owned and 1.5 percent disabled veteran owned. Businesses that qualify as diverse suppliers must be at least 51 percent owned and operated by a minority, woman or disabled veteran.

Products and services purchased by California American Water fall into the categories of construction, services and goods and include: underground construction, concrete work, grading, paving and excavation, construction management, electrical, well and pump repair, fencing and roofing, water conservation, landscaping and weed abatement, janitorial services, banking, auditing, consulting, legal, finance, and much more.

At the Vendor Diversity Business Expo event, prospective vendors will learn how to become certified as a diverse vendor. Information will also be provided on California American Water's procurement practices. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet members of California American Water's senior management, the California Public Utilities Commission and The Supplier Clearinghouse.

The event is free and will include a continental breakfast.
