California Fire Foundation Marks September's Firefighter Appreciation Month With Series Of New Partnerships And Events

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Fire Foundation (www.cafirefoundation.org) – the California-based non-profit that provides emotional and financial assistance to families of fallen firefighters, firefighters and the communities they protect – is rolling out today a series of programs and campaigns in honor of September's Firefighter Appreciation Month. Firefighter Appreciation Month (FFAM) is a time when businesses, celebrities and individuals join the Foundation to acknowledge the work of our local firefighters and raise money for its critical programs.

To help spread the word about September, the California Fire Foundation (CFF) is honored to be supported by a group of Celebrity Heroes who are dedicated to helping highlight the important month. Olivia Munn, Jaime Camil, Ed Begley Jr. and Eddie Cibrian, among others, have joined the Foundation as Heroes and will all be engaging in a special social media campaign to raise awareness of the month and those it celebrates, and to encourage the public to donate at CAfirefoundation.org/thankafirefighter or by texting FIRE to 707070. The public can join this month's social media campaign, as well, by sharing special FFAM graphics if they've been helped by a firefighter, sharing with the hashtags #thankafirefighter, #ffappreciationmonth and #cafirefoundation.

"It is my honor to be a Celebrity Hero of our firefighters who so bravely risk their lives every day to protect ours," said actor Jaime Camil, who credits the work of firefighters for the safety of his mother and grandmother after their apartment caught fire when he was a kid. "It's a cause near and dear to my heart and I hope everyone will join me in supporting the Foundation that gives back to those that so deserve it."

In addition to celebrity supporters, several restaurants and businesses across California are creating special promotions for the month of September that will provides a portion of proceeds back to the CFF. They include:

• Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood, CA will be exclusively offering the specialty drink, the Flame. Proceeds from the sale of the drink will go to support the Foundation throughout the month
• Coral Tree Café in Brentwood will offering a portion of sales of its special Firehouse Meatball Sliders throughout the month
• The Fat Dog in North Hollywood and Fairfax will donate a portion of proceeds from each hot dog sold for the entire month
• Loteria Grill in Downtown LA, Hollywood and Farmers Market will allow visitors to add a donation right on the receipt. In addition, any firefighter that shows their badge will get a discount throughout the month
• Planet Salon in West Hollywood is selling in-store raffle tickets for two gift baskets valued at $435 for those who stop in a haircut
• Panini Kabob Grill's multiple LA locations will have two special days-September 4 and September 11—where they will donate 15% of all sales to the Foundation
• Kitchen24 in Hollywood and West Hollywood are marking September 20 to celebrate the firefighters, offering 10% of all sales to the cause
• Vineyard Vines is hosting special shopping events at four of its stores to benefit the Foundation. On September 9 from 1PM-5PM, its Walnut Creek and Palo Alto stores are offering shoppers 10% off with 10% of sales to be donated. On September 12, its Burlingame store is donating 20% of all sales and on September 16, its Tiburon store is donating 20% of all sales.
• 5 Five Guys locations in Alamo, Brentwood, Concord, Pinole and Pleasant Hill in Northern California will donate 10% of sales on September 11, 20 and 27^th.
• Home décor brand Jonathan Adler will give shoppers on September 23-24 a 10% off purchases on all inventory (excluding art and items already on sale) and donate 10% of everything sold (excluding interior designer trade business) to the Foundation
• Basanti Tea Bar will donate 10% of all proceeds from all matcha drinks purchased between September 15-30 will be donated

The Hollywood Improv is another business hosting a special event for Firefighter Appreciation Month. On Sunday, September 24 at 7:30PM the Improv will host a comedy show dedicated to FFAM with today's top comedians. $10 of each ticket will go to the Foundation.

The month will close with a special ceremony at the California Firefighters Memorial at the State Capitol in Sacramento, CA on September 30^th. The Memorial's ceremony will feature a uniformed fire procession, tributes and presentation of the U.S flag to the families of those whose names are being added to the Memorial which currently features over 1300 names of those who have lost their lives on duty in California since 1850. On September 29, a special tribute ceremony will be held to mark the Memorial's 15^th anniversary.
