Calypso Communications Expands Creative Team
Fast-Growing Marketing, PR, and Design Firm Hires O Ciardha, Snyder; Promotes Alfis
PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Calypso Communications, one of the only truly integrated, full-service public relations, marketing, and graphic design firms in Northern New England, recently boosted its award-winning creative department with the appointments of Kelsey O Ciardha as digital and graphic designer and Dan Snyder as video production manager. Kelly Alfis, a three-year Calypso team member, has been promoted to lead graphic designer. The three professionals support the agency's production of creative client videos, websites, and graphic design for a diverse roster of consumer and energy clients.
"Calypso's creative team is the strongest it's ever been," said Calypso Vice President and Creative Director Mike Teixeira. "Kelsey and Dan's skills elevate the creative quality of our services and products, helping clients communicate their core messages with a dynamic visual style that can flow and move from page, to web, to screen. We're also tremendously proud to honor Kelly's design expertise with her promotion to lead graphic designer."
Kelly Alfis joined Calypso's creative team in 2009. In her time at the agency, she has successfully designed logos, web graphics, reports, brochures, and other client collateral. Alfis' expertise extends beyond graphic design as she makes strategic recommendations for developing client brand identity and visual style. She currently leads design work for several clients, including Concord Hospital and Wheelabrator Technologies. Alfis received her BFA in graphic design from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and spent time studying art and design in Florence, Italy.
Before joining Calypso's graphic design team, Kelsey O Ciardha began her creative journey as an intern at New Hampshire Magazine, developing layout and images. While attending Boston University, she studied in Dublin and interned at Hot Press Magazine, where she wrote music news stories for both the web and print versions of the magazine.
O Ciardha earned her B.S. in magazine print journalism and subsequently worked as a freelance web and print designer. At Calypso, she currently manages graphic design and web development work for Derry Imaging Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dan Snyder earned a B.S. in music industry from Northeastern University. He previously worked as production manager for Pulp+Wire, a design firm in Portland, Maine, working with clients and staff to manage all creative projects and leading in-house video and music production services. Snyder also worked at a Maine-based music production company, helping develop talent and managing artists and intellectual property rights for a diverse set of clients.
Snyder manages video production for Calypso with a current client focus on Unitil and the Ogunquit Playhouse. He is also a gifted music producer, arranger, composer, and songwriter who has written and produced music for various artists, brands, and advertising agencies. Snyder attended the 2012 ASCAP Foundation Paul Cunningham Songwriters' Workshop, an annual conference focusing on the discovery, development, and education of a select, advanced group of 7 to 10 songwriters.
