Camp Pocono Trails, a Weight-loss Summer Camp, Tackles Fitness With a Pre-Season Warm-Up for Aspiring Linemen

REEDERS, Pa., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The most well-known weight-loss camp in the country, Camp Pocono Trails, is now offering a team sports program within the camp curriculum for boys 7-19 to help them individually prepare for the upcoming football season.

Zach Sparber, the lineman head coach, a former New Jersey All-State Lineman, previously played for the nationally ranked Bergen Catholic High School football team. Currently, he is continuing his football career at Brown University of the Ivy League. Zach is the son of Camp Pocono Trails' founder, Tony Sparber.

Zach, who was raised in the lifestyle of the camp's unique environment -- a 24-hour-a-day health and motivational mentality -- knows firsthand how important a structured fitness regimen can be to improving ones athletic performance on the gridiron.

Many of the teenage boys that attend Camp Pocono Trails already have the physical stature required for holding the line in the trenches, making them natural candidates for this unheralded, yet crucial position that is the foundation of the nation's most popular and televised team sport.

Camp Pocono Trails' primary mission is to build self-esteem and help stem the epidemic tide of obesity facing our nation's overweight youth, while providing a solid foundation and environment for establishing life-long friendships. The camp provides an atmosphere where losing weight and having fun are both integral parts of the camp experience.

The Linemen's Clinic is expanding this summer after positive feedback from the players in its inaugural season last year. Under the guidance of the coaching staff made up of collegiate linemen, the kids will spend 12-15 hours per week working on health, game-conditioning, football technique, and various forms of strength training.

Approximately 25 campers have already pre-enrolled in the clinic, which is available at no extra cost. All that is required of participants is a pair of football cleats. The camp provides all other equipment as needed.

Camp Pocono Trails is ACA* accredited and located on 350 private lakeside acres in Reeders, PA (approximately 100 miles from Manhattan and Philadelphia).
