Campden Media Announces Acquisition of the Institute for Private Investors
Acquisition creates global powerhouse linking family businesses and ultra high-net-worth individuals worldwide
NEW YORK, Feb. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Campden Media, which serves ultra-affluent business-owning and financial families worldwide, announced that it has acquired the Institute for Private Investors (IPI), one of the first and premier firms providing services to ultra high-net-worth individuals and private investors in the United States. The acquisition will link financial and business-owning families around the world, representing over $200 billion in assets. For the first time, financial families will have access to an interactive and robust online and in-person networking community of peers on a global basis, Campden said. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Campden, based in London, provides education, news and private networking opportunities to the wealthiest families in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Russia, as well as the U.S. The firm offers specialized closed-door conferences hosting over 2,200 families annually, proprietary research and publications specifically for business-owning and financial families of substantial wealth, family offices and advisors who serve them. Founded in 1991, IPI is a New York-based membership organization that connects over 1,100 ultra high-net-worth investors, mainly in the U.S., via educational events throughout the year and an active online community, initiated in 1998.
"We are thrilled to complete the acquisition of IPI, one of the oldest and most respected organizations in the business and the first to have an active online community. Campden's business and financial family community and IPI members will have enhanced opportunities to network, share and exchange information and intelligence on a global basis," said John Pettifor, Campden CEO. "Our goal is to anticipate the needs of family businesses and ultra high-net-worth individuals around the world."
"As IPI members become more global with cross-border interests, the affiliation with Campden takes us to the next level. I am very excited to implement this next phase of our growth for the benefit of the IPI community," said Charlotte Beyer, founder and CEO of IPI. "Together, IPI and Campden will continue to offer a safe harbor dedicated to education and community. Now IPI members will have the advantage of additional services and an international platform, with future opportunities for access to Campden's global community through conferences, magazines, e-news service and research."
IPI, headed by Beyer, will retain its name and operate as a separate brand under the Campden umbrella. President Kristi Kuechler has resigned from the company and her position will not be filled. Mindy Rosenthal, Campden managing director for North America, will additionally assume Kuechler's responsibilities at IPI.
"I am excited to work with Charlotte, who has been a great influence on my career. I have substantial admiration for the way IPI respects and works with financial families," Rosenthal said. "We look forward to combining forces to provide an even greater level of service to the families in our communities."
