Camunda 7.2 Will be Released on 28th November

Open source software for process automation now also supports case management
Software Vendor Camunda will release the new version 7.2 of its open-source software for process automation on 28th November. The product can be downloaded free of charge at http://www.camunda.org . In recent months, Camunda has further grown and established itself as an alternative to the products of large software companies.
The new version includes the world's first implementation of the CMMN standard - developed by the Object Management Group (which is also responsible for BPMN and UML). CMMN stands for Case Management Model and Notation and is used to illustrate unstructured business processes that require a high degree of flexibility. Typical examples are the application process in insurance companies, medical care or complaint handling.
Jakob Freund, CEO of Camunda, highlights the compatibility of BPMN and CMMN: "In the real world, most business processes aren't either structured or unstructured but a combination of both. Workflow solutions should therefore combine BPMN and CMMN models and - from a user perspective - seamlessly interlink. This is the only way an optimal user experience can be ensured whilst the processes can be systematically improved."
In addition to CMMN, Camunda 7.2 also includes a completely new tasklist that was created in cooperation with the German DAB Bank AG, as well as improved performance and scalability.
In addition, the support of data formats such as JSON and XML as well as scripting languages and template engines for workflow implementation has been extended extensively. Camunda explains this with the increasing popularity of scripting languages such as Javascript:
"In our opinion, the promise of a purely model-driven development to become independent of programmers is still not tenable. That is why we continue to focus on the paradigm of the developer-friendly, lightweight framework. However, we expand the potential user group of Camunda to all developers who prefer scripting languages like JavaScript, Groovy, Jython or JRuby. You no longer have to use Java in order to realize workflow solutions with Camunda."
