Iowa House, Senate to Pass Resolution Recognizing Important Iowa-Canada Relationship
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Iowa State Senate and House of Representatives will pass resolutions honoring the economic, social and cultural ties the state shares with Canada. The resolutions will recognize Wednesday as "Canada Day at the Statehouse."
Canada's top diplomat in the Upper Midwest, Consul General Martin Loken, will speak briefly to each chamber before the resolutions are considered. Canada is Iowa's #1 export market. Annual trade between Iowa and Canada totals $7.7 billion and 78,000 Iowa jobs are supported by Canada-US trade. Loken is appointed by Canada's Prime Minister to represent the Government of Canada in the Upper Midwest region.
