Canadian American Business Council Announces 2013 Corporate Leadership Award

"Each year, we seek to recognize successful Canadian American business leaders for their outstanding contributions to innovation, education and environmental sustainability," said CABC Chairman Bill Dalson.  "This year, we are proud to recognize Mr. Chenevert, a Canadian-American who, as leader of a Fortune 50 firm, serves as an inspiration to young men and women who want to achieve global business success."

United Technologies is a world leader in aerospace and commercial building systems, manufacturing and servicing Otis elevators and escalators, Carrier heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines, Sikorsky helicopters, UTC Aerospace Systems, Chubb security systems and more. 

Mr. Chenevert, a native of Montreal, began his career with General Motors and Pratt & Whitney Canada. Later, he became President of Pratt & Whitney before taking the helm as CEO for all of United Technologies in 2008.

Under his leadership, UTC is extending its legacy of pioneering innovations.  These include Pratt & Whitney's PurePower Geared Turbofan aircraft engines that reduce fuel consumption by 16% and lower the airport noise footprint by up to 75%.  In addition, new Carrier refrigeration systems use carbon dioxide as an environmentally refrigerant.

This year, UTC is being recognized for education, environmental responsibility, and exceptional innovation. Past award winners have included GE Aviation, Milton-Bradley, Boston Scientific, Cummins, Honeywell Aerospace, Intel Corporation, and JohnsonDiversey.
