Candace Jordan To Be Honored As 2016 Woman Of Vision By Eversight Illinois
The Model and Columnist Has Been Turning Heads in the Media for Decades
CHICAGO, April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- After dedicating her life to a successful career in the public eye, former Playboy centerfold, media personality and philanthropist Candace Jordan will be fittingly honored as the 2016 Woman of Vision by Eversight Illinois, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of sight, at the 18th Annual Gift of Sight Gala.
The event, which is themed Love At First Sight, will take place from 6-10 p.m. on June 23, 2016 at The Peninsula Chicago, located at 108 E. Superior Street. Each year, Eversight Illinois selects a man or woman to receive its vision award for raising awareness and supporting philanthropy.
As a Woman of Vision honoree, Jordan's expansive work for Chicago area charities will be recognized, including her positions on the board of the Joffrey Ballet, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Common Threads, PAWS Chicago, and the Primo Center for Women and Children, among many others. Dr. Marian Macsai will also be honored at the event with the Gift of Sight award.
"I am elated to accept this incredible honor from Eversight Illinois," said Jordan. "As a member of the media community, I am acutely aware of how extraordinary the gift of sight can be. The work this organization is doing to ensure greater access to vision for anyone in need is something I deeply respect and support."
In addition to her charitable endeavors, Jordan writes her eponymous "Candid Candace" social column in the Chicago Tribune, serves as a blogger for ChicagoNow, authors her own blog and is the award-winning host of "Candace TV." As a model, she has appeared on over 20 national magazine covers, including nine for Playboy, and appeared on the silver screen alongside Tom Cruise in "Risky Business".
Throughout her career, Jordan has built a reputation as an influential woman in Chicago. She has been featured in countless publications, including being named as one of Today's Chicago Woman's "100 Women Making a Difference" and "100 Women of Influence" and in Michigan Avenue Magazine as one of the "100 Most Influential Chicagoans."
