Canon U.S.A. and Long Island Association Explore How to Keep Talented Young Professionals on Long Island
MELVILLE, N.Y., Feb. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Aspiring to help cultivate a thriving environment to foster the next generation of business leaders and professionals, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, hosted members of the Long Island Association's (LIA) Young Professionals Committee at their headquarters in Melville, New York to discuss ways to encourage younger members of the Long Island workforce to pursue opportunities close to home. The program focused on identifying reasons why young professionals often choose not to live and work on Long Island and also discussed ways organizations and government agencies can work together to make the region more attractive for younger workers.

Event attendees were welcomed by Canon U.S.A., Inc.'s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Joe Adachi and Executive Vice President Seymour Liebman, both of whom spoke of Canon's role in the Long Island business community and what the Company does to market itself to young talent in the area. Joining the presentation was Town of Huntington Supervisor Frank Petrone, who detailed initiatives focused on attracting and retaining talented young professionals specializing in a number of capacities. Guests also participated in a question and answer session to discuss their feelings about living and working on Long Island, including what resources they see as important for growing careers on Long Island and what local businesses can do to help keep young professionals in the area.
