Canvas Media Studios Partners With New Leaf Literary & Media, Inc., To Build A Slate Of Digital Series Based On New Leaf's Successful Young Adult Novels

Canvas has optioned four properties for this new venture: LOSING IT series by Cora Carmack, THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR series by Mindee Arnett, THICKER THAN WATER by Kelly Fiore, and BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA and its sequel BETWEEN THE SPARK AND THE BURN by April Genevieve Tucholke.

• LOSING IT (William Morrow) is the story of a 22-year old virgin in her last year of college who decides to finally change her status, but her attempted one-night stand turns disastrous the next morning when she realizes her new theatre professor is the guy she had left half naked in her bed. LOSING IT is a New York Times & USA Today bestselling series with nearly one million copies sold to date.
• THE NIGHTMARE AFFAIR (Tor Teen) is set at a supernatural boarding school, where a teenage girl who is half-human and half-Nightmare feeds on the dreams of an alluring boy, only to discover he's dreaming of a murder – one that comes true.
• THICKER THAN WATER (HarperTeen) follows what happens to an honor student when her star athlete brother is sidelined with an injury, forcing her to enter into a world of drug dealing in an effort to pay for college tuition.
• BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA (Dial Books) follows a young woman who allows a crooked-smiling liar with sweet eyes and a mysterious past to board at her family's crumbling estate and finds herself pulled between love and fear as strange and evil events grip her town.

Joanna Volpe, Suzie Townsend, and Pouya Shahbazian of New Leaf brokered the deal on behalf of the authors. Tochterman and Su are attached as Executive Producers on behalf of Canvas Media Studios.

Bernie Su is a creator, writer, director and producer known for interactive and transmedia storytelling. Past projects include the Emmy winning LIZZIE BENNET DIARIES and EMMA APPROVED, and FRANKENSTEIN MD for PBS.  He was named VideoInk's Creator of the Year in 2014.

David Tochterman is a veteran executive and producer with a record of developing award-winning digital and television properties.  He has most recently been a digital strategy consultant for PBS, ABC and Starz.  He launched the digital media division of Innovative Artists, led the television division of Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment and was a SVP of the television powerhouse Carsey Werner Company.
