Car seals are single-use seals that get their name from being used to secure railroad cars. Cable seals are a popular type of car seals, which have uses beyond just sealing railroad cars. Additional colors can be used to indicate what material is flowing through the valve. Adding an extra layer of organization can create a safer work environment.

To maintain safety and security for valves that are being sealed for long periods of time, be sure that a team member checks on them often. Information like valve position, valve location, inspection date, and any identifying numbers should be recorded on a regular basis.
