Carbonite Selected as 2010 Boston Business Journal 'Best Places to Work' Honoree

NEEDHAM, Mass., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Carbonite®, a leading provider of online backup, was named one of the Best Places to Work in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal in its eighth annual regional awards program.  The honor recognizes Carbonite's achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of employee satisfaction, working conditions and company culture.

Carbonite was one of 440 companies to qualify for consideration, a 10 percent increase in nominees over 2009, ranking No. 6 on the list in its size category based on the results of employee-satisfaction surveys taken throughout the spring.

The top 20 companies in three size categories — small (20-100 employees), midsize (101-500 employees) and large (more than 500 employees) — were profiled in a special supplement of the Journal on June 11.

The survey project was launched in January by the Journal in conjunction with market research firm QMR Inc. of Wichita, Kansas. Companies were evaluated on the results of more than 20,000 employee-satisfaction surveys. Employees answered questionnaires that addressed such factors as their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. The results were analyzed and scored by assigning points to each question.
