Carly Fiorina to Give Keynote Address at Americans United for Life 40th Anniversary Gala
WASHINGTON, Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AUL President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest announced Wednesday that former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett-Packard Carly Fiorina will give the keynote address during AUL's 40th Anniversary Gala at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 2. Incorporated in 1971, before the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, AUL will mark the accomplishments of four decades serving as the nation's premier pro-life legal team and as the source of much of the pro-life model legislation that has had such an impact across the country.
"As the first woman to lead a Fortune 20 company, Carly Fiorina has lived a life of accomplishment and achievement that beautifully demonstrates that being pro-life is pro-woman," said Dr. Yoest. "We are honored to have Carly articulate her vision of moving forward toward restoring a culture of life while celebrating AUL's four decades of pro-life victories."
Fiorina will be joined by other national and political luminaries who will participate in the event. For a complete list of the honorary co-chairs as well as the U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives serving as honorary hosts, click here.
Dr. Yoest noted that the anniversary gala would celebrate the "accumulated pro-life victories AUL has earned through years of public service and the people who made them possible."
Milestones for AUL include: successfully defending the Hyde Amendment before the U.S. Supreme Court, establishing the intellectual groundwork for fetal homicide laws enacted in 37 states, reducing abortions state by state through innovative model legislation found in Defending Life (a catalogue of 39 pieces of innovative model legislation), leading in the fight against assisted suicide, and testifying for life in state legislatures around the country and in the last two Supreme Court justice confirmation hearings.
