Cascade Lacrosse, Maverik Lacrosse Announce New NCAA Partner Schools
United States Air Force Academy, Jacksonville University and University of Richmond Become Latest College Lacrosse Programs to Exclusively Wear CASCADE and MAVERIK Products
LIVERPOOL, N.Y., Nov. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cascade Lacrosse, the leading head protection brand in lacrosse, and Maverik Lacrosse, a leading developer and manufacturer of lacrosse equipment and apparel, today announced three new NCAA partner programs. The United States Air Force Academy, Jacksonville University and the University of Richmond will all exclusively wear CASCADE and MAVERIK equipment for the upcoming 2017 season.
CASCADE continues to be the dominant brand in head protection with more than 68 percent of Division I programs wearing CASCADE helmets. MAVERIK, which has grown its Division I partner schools by 82 percent since 2013, is now the No. 1 brand of choice by Division I programs with 27 percent of schools choosing MAVERIK gear.
"We are excited that more and more of the best collegiate programs in the country are choosing to partner with Cascade Lacrosse and Maverik Lacrosse for their equipment needs," said Paul Carcaterra, Sports Marketing Director, Cascade Lacrosse and Maverik Lacrosse. "The decision by Air Force, Jacksonville and Richmond to join our team is a testament to the trust and confidence that all three programs – as well as the many other programs around the country – have in CASCADE and MAVERIK. We look forward to working with all our collegiate partners to gain their valuable feedback and insight to influence the next generation of cutting edge equipment."
Air Force finished the 2016 season with a 15-3 overall record and was ranked as high as ninth nationally, which marked the highest national ranking in school history. The Falcons won the program's first-ever Southern Conference title and earned a berth in the 2016 NCAA tournament, before losing to Notre Dame.
"We couldn't be more excited to begin our new relationship with CASCADE and MAVERIK," said Air Force Head Coach Eric Seremet. "We believe we are partnering with an organization who shares our values of being the best. Protecting these future Air Force officers is of the utmost importance and I am confident in the quality and safety that both CASCADE and MAVERIK equipment will provide our team and players."
Richmond, who Air Force beat in overtime to win the Southern Conference, finished the year with an 11-5 record. In just three seasons at the Division I level, the Spiders have amassed 28 wins, three Southern Conference championship game appearances and a NCAA tournament appearance.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with MAVERIK and CASCADE for many years to come," said Richmond Head Coach Dan Chemotti. "From the start, both brands have been synonymous with success and their products have been synonymous with quality. We take our equipment very seriously, and from our perspective, MAVERIK and CASCADE produce the best gear in the game."
Jacksonville posted a 3-10 record last year, but the Dolphins expect things to turn around beginning with the 2017 campaign as lacrosse icon John Galloway takes over head coaching duties alongside legendary player Casey Powell, who will serve as Jacksonville's offensive coordinator.
"When I took the head coaching position at Jacksonville, one of my first goals was to ensure our guys have everything they need to compete at an elite level," Galloway said. "Immediately, MAVERIK and CASCADE came to the forefront of our search to achieve that goal. Our program is privileged to join the MAVERIK and CASCADE family and we look forward to representing their product as we strive to become the capitol of lacrosse in the Southeast."
All three programs are expected to wear the all-new MAVERIK MAX gloves, the CASCADE R helmet and use one of the many high-performing MAVERIK heads, including the new MAVERIK TACTIK which was designed and engineered for elite control.
