Cass-Clay Seeks "Extraordinary Student" Nominations for K-12 Students Across North Dakota
Two grand-prize winning students will receive $5,000 in cash for their schools; six student finalists will be awarded $500 for their schools
FARGO, N.D., Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cass-Clay Creamery today launched its first "Cass-Clay Cares Extraordinary Student Award and Scholarship Program" to recognize North Dakota's outstanding K-12 students. This new initiative is aimed at honoring North Dakota students who excel in academics in addition to extracurricular, volunteer and community contributions.
From now until December 1, 2012, adults 18 years of age or older can nominate a standout student for the opportunity to be selected as a Cass-Clay "Extraordinary Student." On December 15, Cass- Clay will select one grades K – 6 finalist and one grades 7 – 12 finalist from the four major markets of Fargo, Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Minot. Two grand prize winners—one K-6 and one 7-12—will receive $5,000 in cash from Cass-Clay for their schools plus a $1,500 personal scholarship. The remaining finalists will receive $500 for their schools, $250 for themselves and a year's worth of Cass-Clay products. Winners will be selected in January 2013.

Students nominated for Cass-Clay's "Extraordinary Student" recognition must be residents of North Dakota or Clay County, Minn. or attend school in North Dakota. Nominations should consist of a brief essay of no more than 1,000 words that describe the student's extracurricular activities, academic achievements and how the student's volunteer efforts make the school, classroom or community a better place.

All nominations must be received by 5 p.m., December 1, 2012 and mail-in entries must be received no later than December 3. Once finalists are announced, they will have from December 15 – December 22, to submit up to three supporting documents – photos, letter of gratitude, news articles, video, etc. to [email protected]
