Catify Your Life: Rachael Ray Nutrish and BuzzFeed Team Up to Add the Meow to CatCon
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® super premium food for cats announced today that it is the presenting sponsor of CatCon 2017, a convention that brings the internet obsession with cats to life, occurring August 12 and 13 in Pasadena, Calif. In its third "cat-tastic" year at the event, the theme of Nutrish's 2017 presence is "Catify Your Life," focusing on Do It Yourself (DIY) crafts and projects attendees and their cats will love.
The brand's "Catify Your Life" theme for this year's event was inspired by its successful collaboration with BuzzFeed's Nifty video series, in which viewers are instructed on how to create fun cat-inspired crafts and projects. One such video, entitled "Cat Hideaway Table" demonstrates how to upgrade a cat's window view with a tray, a pillow, some rope, and a few hooks. This video premiered in late February and has generated more than 6 million views on Facebook.
The other four videos in the series give viewers instructions on how they can use ordinary objects to make extraordinary toys, cat carriers and other items for which their cats will thank them. CatCon attendees can catch these videos streaming all weekend long in the Nutrish booth. For the third year in a row, Nutrish will also feature custom "Caticatures," caricatures of people melded with their cats, created on the spot by a caricature artist. New to the Nutrish CatCon presence this year is the 360 Glam Cam, which will allow CatCon patrons rocking the latest in cat fashions to showcase their looks in the round and share to social media.
Also making a prominent appearance at this year's CatCon will be Nutrish's newest dry cat food formula, Indoor Complete Chicken with Lentils and Salmon Recipe, a dry cat food made with a unique superfood blend to meet the specific needs of indoor cats. CatConers will be able to take samples of the recipe and coupons home with them to treat their furry companions.
In addition to its booth presence, Nutrish will also present the "Furever Home Adoption Lounge," which will feature cats and kittens from the Pasadena Humane Society in search of their "Furever" homes. Adoptions will be offered at a discounted rate and Rachael Ray Nutrish will give each adopting family a "Kitty Starter Kit" to take home, which will include Nutrish cat food and unique goodies!
"When we launched Nutrish for Cats in 2014, it was very important to us to not only make a product that was nutritious and tasty for cats, but also create a brand that gives back," said Steve Joyce, Vice President of Marketing for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition. "That's why a portion of proceeds from each sale of Nutrish is donated to The Rachael Ray Foundation, which helps animals in need through donations to pet charities and organizations that do good for animals. We are proud to present the 'Furever Home Adoption Lounge' at this year's CatCon to help shelter cats find their 'Furever' homes."
After Saturday's events, select CatCon attendees will be able to enjoy cocktails that will wet their whiskers at a special event hosted by Nutrish and BuzzFeed, entitled Party Right Meow. Nutrish and BuzzFeed will feature adoptable cats in a "Kitten Corner," as well as a life-sized scratch post for all to enjoy, and a photo booth to keep the cat enthusiasts purr-ying on. Attendees will also have a chance to view the crafts from the BuzzFeed Nifty video series in real life, and take home an instruction card to try them on their own.
