SEOUL, South Korea, July 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CDNetworks has announced today that it has expanded its reach in Mainland Southeast Asia with a new global telecommunications business and newly established CDNetworks points of presence (PoPs) in Myanmar in partnership with its parent company KDDI Group (KDDI). CDNetworks' PoP in Myanmar increases network coverage to 13 locations throughout Mainland South-east Asia.

In addition to adding CDN coverage, KDDI entered the communication business in Myanmar as part of a three-company collaboration with Sumitomo Corporation and Myanmar Posts & Telecommunications (MPT) in July 2014. By improving communications quality and expanding area coverage, KDDI is working to bring convenient mobile telephone, Internet, and other telecommunications services to even more people in Myanmar.
Myanmar represents an untapped market of close to 51 million people where the growing internet usage stands at only about 1% and mobile penetration at about 50% today. However, according to Forbes, "Myanmar's economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and one of the future powerful emerging economies in Southeast Asia."
