Celebrate Labor Day Weekend at the Ultimate, End-of-Summer Chicago Festival!
CHICAGO, Aug. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Spend the last days of summer with an unforgettable weekend full of music, food, and fun for all ages at the 33rd Annual Taste of Polonia (August 31st – September 3rd) at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave. (corner Lawrence and Milwaukee Avenues.)
Indulge in Polish favorites like kielbasa, pierogies, and potato pancakes; or sample one of many imported Central European beer varieties! Visit one of five stages for a unique selection of non-stop music for every taste – from popular local artists, to internationally acclaimed musicians playing everything from rock, pop and dance – to– reggae, world and polka!
The fest's diverse musical line-up includes renowned talent all the way from Poland by Myslovitz (a highly accoladed band often compared to the likes of Radiohead and Coldplay) and Power of Trinity (who feature a mixture of heavy guitar riffs with reggae); plus performances by Chicago's own 'flashback' bands: ABBA Salute, BritBeat, Gentleman of Leisure, Kashmir, Reely Dan, Libido Funk Circus and many more – including an exciting line-up of Chicago Club DJs every night at 7:30 p.m.
Learn how to make your favorite Polish dishes at free cooking classes hosted by Chicago celebrity chef, Michael Niksic (a.k.a. The Food Mercenary), tap your foot along to traditional folk dancing, do the polka, roll the dice at "Big Nick's Casino," test your luck at carnival and arcade games, or take a stroll around the Festival Marketplace to shop for festive fashions and old-world treasures!
Families can visit the "Krakus Kids Stage" with live children's theater, dance and music workshops, karaoke, balloon twisting, plus talent and game shows – complete with prizes and giveaways! There are also plenty of kid-friendly activities to enjoy at Taste of Polonia including arcade games, inflatables and more!
