ATLANTA, April 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the country celebrates National Glazed Spiral Ham Day. In 1957, Harry Hoenselaar perfected the first spiral-slicing machine and also developed an extraordinary process for curing, slow cooking and glazing hams. Three generations later, the Hoenselaar family still prepares the original Honey Baked Ham® the same way that Harry did: hand glazing each ham in-store, one at a time.
"HoneyBaked is excited to celebrate National Glazed Spiral Ham Day," said Maggie DeCan, HoneyBaked* COO. "For more than 57 years, American families have welcomed HoneyBaked into their homes for their most special occasions and we're committed to carrying on the wonderful tradition and legacy of Mr. Hoenselaar."
According to a recent survey conducted by HoneyBaked, two out of every five Americans will spend this Easter with friends instead of family. No matter who you're celebrating with, the signature Honey Baked Ham® is always a crowd-pleasing favorite for any Easter meal.
Because each Honey Baked Ham® is fully cooked and ready-to-serve, everybody can enjoy more time with friends and loved ones. For easy Easter pick-up, more than 400 HoneyBaked retail stores will be open extended hours this week. "We're pleased to offer flexibility and convenience of additional operating hours to our customers to help make Easter meal planning stress-free," added DeCan.
