Seamless Integration Gives Students Hands-On Practice with Writing and Running Code
BOSTON and SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cengage Learning today announced a partnership with Codevolve, a San Francisco-based edtech company, to integrate Codevolve's computer coding environment into MindTap, Cengage Learning's flagship digital platform. The collaboration brings computer science and programming instruction to students through hands-on practice designed to teach users to write and run code. Five MindTap courses are releasing this spring with Python, Java and C++ Codevolve labs.
Codevolve's seamless integration into MindTap requires no installation, allowing students to code directly in the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) from their web browser. According to the most recent data from Code.org, there are more than 600,000 open computing jobs nationwide, but only 38,175 computer science students graduating to fill this need.

Powered by artificial intelligence, a chatbot provides hints and feedback when students get stuck, which encourages persistence through on demand assistance. For instructors, MindTap provides benefits and support including automatic grading, analytics and LMS integration with full flexibility to tailor a course.
