Centennial Medical Center's Healthy Hometown / 10 Year Anniversary Exceeded Expectations
FRISCO, Texas, Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Between 5,000-6,000 residents attended Centennial Medical Center's 7th annual Healthy Hometown festival and 10th Anniversary on Saturday, August 2, 2014.
It was a pleasant morning for a festival with partly cloudy skies and below 87 degrees that began with lines of people stretching out the door, down the sideway and to the road. Healthy Hometown has grown in each of the seven years it has taken place. In 2012, 1,500 people attended the festival and early projections put this year in the 3,000 range, but, in reality, almost double the amount of people attended than were anticipated.
Centennial Medical Center backpacks were distributed to all of the school-aged children and the kids filled them with school supplies gathered from various vendors such as Pro Martial Arts, Ortho Texas, Innovations Wellness Center and KSCS 96.3FM.
Carnival games, stuffed animal prizes, clowns, mascots and tours of emergency vehicles added to the fun. Carnival food and healthy cooking demos gave everyone snacks and cold water bottles to keep up their energy through the games. Balloons and cake were passed out by Centennial Medical Center staff to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
The latest in technology was also on display. The da Vinci Surgical System®, a robot that assists the surgeon during a surgical procedure, was available for participants to examine.
Frisco Mayor Maher Maso was present to declare Saturday, August 2 to be "Healthy Hometown." Mayor Maso also had an opportunity to examine the da Vinci Surgical System® up close as well as attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Frisco Chamber of Commerce's "Ambassador" program in conjunction with Centennial Medical Center.
Centennial Medical Center is pleased with the extremely large turnout on Saturday and planning is already underway to make next year's Healthy Hometown even bigger and better.
